ADT telegraph register. The maker appears to
be Foote, Pierson, in N.Y. It is built primarily of brass, with a cast
iron base. It has two separate marking circuits, the ADT label on the rear
says 6 ohms, Type 276 Recorder. These registers were used in the ADT
Central stations to receive coded signals from various transmitters in the
field, via a McCullough circuit. The register printed dots and dashes on a
thin paper tape roll that was installed in the rear bracket of the
register. The left and right sides of the tape received signals from
separate McCullough circuits, thus two circuits per register. Some ADT
offices had over 200 of these registers. These registers were wound up
each shift by the central station operators / Armed Service Investigators. |
